View of the arbor and rose garden Just past the Grandkid's Gardens you pass through this Arbor made from old cross arms and branches found in the woods. This leads into the Rose garden. Since this picture was taken I have added many more roses and now have over thirty. I am slowly replacing the hybrids for the more hardy ones grown on their own roots.
This view is from the rose garden looking back. I have found that a carefree garden requires good soil preparation and plants that are appropriate for your climate zone. To help retain moisture and discourage weeds, I mulch each year with a layer of fine bark and compost.    view looking north
Birdie pond and deck Working our way back, this is an opposite view of the deck and the little birdie pond. The birdie pond is only 18 inches deep and filled with gravel and large stones. It has a re-circulating pump which pumps water up through a stump and then trickles back down into the pond.
The tour ends here, but before you exit check out the trellis made from a dead tree. I picked  this treasure up on my way home from the dump one day. It is perfect for the birdhouses tucked among the Honeysuckle vine.  Dead tree and bird houses
Thank you for allowing us to share our garden. I hope you enjoyed your visit and please come again soon. There is always something new to see.
