June & July 2002

Volume 1 No.5

224 years ago...on July 4th, 1776
This great nation, the United States of America,
In a struggle for what was right and free,
Was proudly born...
May we celebrate that precious freedom
For which our forbears fought so bravely...
The freedom that is inherent
In the Stars and Stripes, our revered flag...
Celebrate Freedom
This Fourth of July!

Delay in the news letter
Due to my "end of the school year busy schedule" and as Ariel said, "maybe a little constipation", I am combining June and July newsletters.

Bible Church News

Maddie Goes To Mexico
Maddie is excitedly getting ready to go to Mexico with her church . They will leave July 29th for Calvary Chapel in La Posada.  While in Mexico, the group will continue their work of building houses and sharing the word of God with the local Mexican families.

Jesus Loves You Dolls

The dolls have gone to Shenyang, China. Ariel sent 23 boy dolls and 12 girl dolls for the orphans that she and Cory  met when they went to China. They were even  featured in the newspaper. It has been a worthwhile project not only for the orphans but for the little old ladies at the Retirement home who help to make the dolls.

Birthday Celebrations Image of a birthday cake

Since the last newsletter we have had several birthdays and anniversaries. In May, Jim and Barb celebrated 41 years together. They took their yearly trip to Enumclaw, Washington.  When they got home, they took Sharon out for her Birthday dinner. Curtiss celebrated his birthday with his mom and family. In June, Gardener celebrated his 40th birthday with a soggy barbeque at their house. Later in the month, we had a family party for Logan. Curtiss and Ariel had a nice anniversary spending time working together in the yard and having lunch out.

Summer Gardens

Everyone has been busy working in their gardens now that summer finally arrived. Curtiss and Ariel found some more out buildings for their little farm.  They added a cute out house and shed for the rabbits.  Using expert engineering tricks, Ariel and Curtiss moved the large shed all alone!

The Blacks and Sinsleys recently made a trip to the woods for more rocks for the path that Shari and Barb are making at Shari's house.

Devon and Darcy are busy getting a pad ready for a newly purchased hot tub.

Devon's New Toy

Devon has a new toy!  He was able to purchase a sailboat he had been looking at to and from for over a year. It is a 15 foot with sleeping quarters.

Jim Out Scouting!
Jim has been busy scouting leads for things to add to the collections. He found a man who had a ton of "good stuff". Barb made a haul for things to put in the garden and Jim found a couple of insulators.

It won't be long until the Kootenai County Fair and the kids are all busy getting their animals ready and working on various other projects. Maddie is busy making a skirt, Micah is training Cosmo for the dog show and James took his pigs in to be weighed.

Ariel, Sara, James and Micah recently went to a big rabbit show to learn the ropes and to purchase another rabbit for Sara. Ariel and Micah have had two successful litters of bunnies. James and Sara are having difficulty breeding their rabbits and are hoping the new one will change things.

Boys Are Working
Both Dustin and Cory have found jobs and are busy working.  Dustin is working at Home Depot and hoping to earn enough money to get a car.  Cory is working at Wendy's and working on a project to bring Chinese business men over to America for training.

Digging for Clams and Showing Ferrets

Devon, Darcy, kids and Darcy's sister's family all made their yearly trip to the coast to dig for clams over Memorial Day weekend.  The report was - best clam digging ever but traveling in a van with 5 children left a lot to be desired.

June found Devon and Darcy on the road again. This time with ferrets and no children. They traveled to Oregon for a ferret show and a stop at Mount Saint Helens. Grandma and Papa got the pleasure of watching the little Sinsley's for the weekend.

Summer Gardens Continued

Barb has been busy with her school garden club and at home. The kids at school planted a vegetable garden, a flower garden for a local retirement home down the street from the school, a memorial garden complete with red, white and blue flowers, and a Dalia bed. At home she was busy getting ready for a garden party for the school club, local adult garden club members who help at the school and a few students and parents. Jim brought home a huge insulator which they made into a really cool fountain. Again, they were featured in the local newspaper and Barb had a gardening article published in a little newspaper that was doing a garden section.

Ariel A Telecommuter
Ariel will be doing her duties for the Troxell Group from home. It really feels so good! She will take a small cut in pay, but will still have her benefits and get to help a really great boss. She started her first day at "her old job" cleaning out a years worth of dirt from the cupboards. The Gimlins are all looking forward to spending more time together.

Micah Gets A New Toy Too!
Micah got a new little motorcycle. He and Curtiss spent Father's day out riding. Curtiss had spent the day before riding with a buddy all day. They sure are having fun with their toys!
